Taxes in Newton are too high
People live in Newton because it is a safe, leafy suburb next to Boston. Our tax costs to live in this great city are $8,000 per household; we are the 19th highest taxed citizens in the state of 351 communities. This tax burden is, for many of our citizens and their families, unbearable. High taxes prevent many private and public sector workers from living in Newton.
Candidates Balser, Coletti, Parker and Warren support overrides and tax increases; Bill Heck does not. Bill is a founding director of Newton for Fiscal Responsibility - the group that beat down the last override attempt. He believes that raising taxes is not the answer to everything.
Yes, we have a great city in many ways, but uncontrolled tax and spending growth is simply wrong.
Bill Heck believes we have an obligation to be fiscally responsible, and that's what he pledges to you as your next mayor. We are enduring a recession and, perhaps, facing worse. We need more value for our Newton tax dollars; we need more for less. We pay enough taxes. Enough is enough.
Here are more reasons why you should vote for Bill.
